Acceptance on one foot and change with the other.
I am a Clinical Counsellor dedicated to creating a comfortable, open, and non-judgemental space for everyone.
Are you ready to
prioritize yourself?
Guiding clients through self-discovery and self-mastery, Corridor Counsellor Jenilee is dedicated to creating a comfortable, open, and non-judgemental space for anyone with any presenting concerns.
What is Counselling?
Counselling is your safe space; everything that happens in our sessions stays in our sessions. Confidentiality is important to me, and it is my ethical duty to uphold the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association’s Standards of Practice.
Counselling is an opportunity to gain some insights into your patterns of emotions and to confront memories or experiences that can lead to personal growth and learning.
-
The first session is a lot about getting to know if you and your counsellor are a good fit. Having questions for your counsellor and what they can do for you will help you collaborate on unique ways to address your concerns. Thinking about what your expectations are from your counsellor and the hopes you have for the counselling process can clear a path for you and your counsellor to build an alliance and get started on your therapeutic journey.
-
The choice is up to you!
Virtual sessions allow you to engage from your home and avoid travel. In-person can motivate you out of the house and enjoy the quiet and cozy space of the office setting.
-
There are benefits to both these options. If one partner is more motivated to be in
counselling, it may be better to come individually first. Coming individually before
together will mean there will be more sessions and a longer wait time before coming
Collaboratively.
-
Individual sessions last 55 minutes, and Relationship sessions last up to 90 minutes with no set number of sessions. Depending on your needs and commitment to work outside counselling, they can range from 2-12 sessions, with the possibility to extend because we never know what life will throw at us!
Consistency and commitment to the process are the most important part of counselling.
Many clients benefit from six sessions or more to make true progress.
-
Several private extended health benefits will cover several counselling sessions per year. Checking with your insurance provider before counselling is always a good idea to avoid financial disappointment. I practice under the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association, which is recognized federally. Some private BC insurance plans may not cover our sessions.
-
Individual in-person and virtual sessions are $135/hr, and Couples sessions are $170/90 minutes
-
There are subsidies to access counselling at a reduced cost for people who want to try it. The Whistler Community Services Society offers a counselling assistance program, and I’m on their list of counsellors. Book a telephone or in-person appointment with an outreach worker to fill out a short application here.
If you are curious about counselling or want to see if we’d be a good fit, please book a free 20-minute call with me to discuss your goals, expectations and any questions you might have about counselling.
“My sessions with Jenilee have been a life-changing experience. I had never been to counselling before and was nervous to do so. I felt comfortable talking with Jenilee and taking on the advice that she provided after the first session. I enjoy the conversations we have and look forward to making more progress in the future.”
